Activator RustiQ-OxiQ Stoopen & Meeûs
Activator RustiQ-OxiQ Stoopen & Meeûs
The Rustique Activator is crucial in the process of creating the rust effect on surfaces coated with RustiQ. Its main function is to initiate chemical reactions that lead to a change in color of the applied putty – the initially green-gray color turns brown, and then, after drying, takes on its final shade of yellow-orange-brown.
Activation is possible evev a few days after application but before applying the protective coating. Usually, two layers are required. The activator should be applied 3-4 hours after applying RustiQ or OxiQ.
The activator should be applied generously using a roller with cross motions until RustiQ-OxiQ is completely saturated. After drying, a second layer of activator should be applied in the same manner. The thicker the layer of activator, the higher the chance that some areas will be slightly shiny. After activation, the greenish-gray color will immediately change to brown. Upon drying (from 2 to 5 hours), the final yellow-orange-brown color of rust will appear. In a humid environment, the color may change. After drying, if necessary, the surface can be sanded. This will slightly darken the color and can reduce any shiny spots.
